So it’s holiday card season | What you need to know

Even with fewer people sending snail mail these days, the holiday card tradition is still hanging on! I love me some good ol’ fashioned snail mail, especially when it brings extra cheer around the month of December. If you’re feeling stressed about what you need to be thinking of when it comes to cards, I gotchu!

Here are 5 tips to help you nail this thing:

1. Make sure you’re using the correct size

You’ll definitely want to use a high resolution image on your cards. This will guarantee your cards will print crisp and clear - cuz everyone wants to see your gorgeous faces, of course! Most online card designers will have a minimum size requirement and may give you a warning if your card will print pixelated.

2. Ask your photographer for design and print recommendations

Or better yet, see if they offer design and printing services! When you want something done right, ask the pros. We’ve been around the block, know all the different paper types, and we might have some ideas on designs or colors that suit YOUR images best. Trust me guys, we eat this stuff right up!

3. Check shipping times and account for postal delays

The sooner you order your cards, the better! It’s never a bad idea to order cards in late October or early November and have them addressed and ready-to-send. One less thing to worry about, amirite!? Be sure to check with the local post office for their holiday mail delivery deadlines, and if they recommend allowing extra transit time due to COVID.

4. Order 10 extra cards

You don’t wanna forget that great aunt or second cousin! Or, maybe you wanna have some extra cards on hand in case you meet a new friend this holiday season. Also, don’t forget to keep a card for your own fridge or photo album! It doesn’t hurt to order at least 10 extra.

5. Return the joy!

Do you remember who sent you a card last year? Include them in your mailing list! Keep that list updated with everyone who sends you a card this year, so you can keep the cheer going for years to come. Let’s keep the tradition alive!

Happy Holidays!
